When kak long got married three years ago, her maternal grandmother i.e. my mak, baked one dozen Kek Kukus. My mak makes the best kek kukus in the world.
So....after the wedding, kak long and her husband Ahmad, went visiting to her grandparents and hubby's each and every sibling. The kek kukus were put into the Bakul Sia and presented to each of them.
Of course the Bakul Sia was not return empty....kak long and Ahmad received ang pows and other gifts left inside the Bakul Sia.
This tradition is rarely practiced these days but then hubby wanted Kak ngah to do likewise after her wedding too.
But this time there were no kek kukus....mak had a major stroke since two years ago so she is unable to bake anymore.
So hubby ordered thirty kilos of fresh dodol this time around. The dodol were packed at one kilo per container. The containers were made from Mengkuang leaves.
Thus, kak ngah and her husband Aminn brought the dodol in the Bakul Sia when visiting her grandparents and hubby's siblings.
We hope this tradition of family bonding will continue in our blessed family, In shaa Allah.
