Buah Cipo from Segamat

I slept soundly at Fitri's abode and woke up at dawn for solat fajr.  I wanted to go out and join the ah sohs for their tai chi exercise at the field nearby but it was hazy. So....i went back to sleep...😴😴😴

After breakfast Fitri drove me, his wife Ana and two of their children Nurul and Shaza to their Mak Jang's abode near Segamat town.

Mak Jang is a traditional healer.  Fitri took me to see her whether she could help heal my itchy right foot.  Mak Jang uses daun sireh and gambir to get its yellowish juice to wipe over my foot.  In shaa Allah my foot will heal.

Then from Mak Jang's house we went to Ana's house where she grew up.  This was my first visit.  I met her siblings there.  Here I came across my first encounter with a fruit called buah Pico.  I ate the riped Pico which is red in colour.  It tasted like mango.  According to Fitri's sister-in-law the unripe Pico can be cooked with ikan sungai.  Well.....hope to try cooking one day too.

We then had lunch which Ana cooked.  Asam pedas ikan parang and lemak pucuk manis with keledek. Yummy....

After I solat jamaq zuhur and asar Fitri sent me to the Segamat railway station for my journey to Pedas.  But all tickets sold out.  So he took me to the bus terminal.  Alhamdullillah there was a bus to Tampin.

So I bid farewell to Fitri and his family. Gave them big hugs and with a heavy heart I boarded the bus for my journey to Tampin.

Off to Segamat

Hubby and Badruzzaman were busy at our livestock farm on the second day of Eid Adha.  So Wahid drove me and Sofiyah to Rembau wet market to buy ingredients for lunch.

I cooked gulai lemak cili api ayam kampung with ubi kentang, sambal belacan and ikan masin.  Fried ayam kampung for Muhammad.

In the evening my kid brother Fitri and his daughter Ain Fitrah arrived.  We left for Segamat after solat Maghrib.

Fitri took the old road to Segamat via Tampin, Gemenceh and Gemas.  We had our dinner at a Tom yam restaurant in Gemas.

When we arrived at Fitri's abode it was almost midnight.  Alhamdullillah.

Hari Raya Qurban

Hubby and I went to Masjid Pekan Pedas for our Eid Adha prayers.  It was 8.15am and the womens' prayer hall were almost full.  I managed to get a space second row along the Masjid's corridor. Alhamdullillah.

When we returned to our homestay Rumah Liza our son-in-law were right behind us.  After greeting us he went to Lizloteng to fetch kak long and Muhammad.

I was busy preparing breakfast when I noticed a group of monkeys near the ciku tree.  There were ten monkeys.  They were watching me and I them. Heheehe....

They really got sharp ears because when I clicked my phone camera....they ran and disappeared into the woods behind Rumah Liza.

Around 4pm Wahid drove me and Sofiyah to my parents' abode.  We were greeted by my neice Ain Fitrah.  She was with her dad, my kid brother Zulfitri.  Fitri was taking a nap when we arrived.  Dad was watching tv.  Mak was watching tv too.  I gave them both big hugs and kisses too.

I then served abah and mak the ketupat and rendang which I brought.  After solat maghrib I sponge mak and changed her bedsheets.  I also mopped the house and clean the kitchen too.

Wahid, Sofiyah and I returned to Rumah Liza after solat eshaq.  Alhamdullillah we reached home safely.  Kak long and her family were there too. ☺

A day before Eid Adha

I cooked fried rice for breakfast afterwhich I began preparing the ingredients to cook chicken rendang.  I was fasting today i.e. 10th Zulhijjah.

When hubby returned after buying fresh coconut milk, eight kilos, I began cooking the coconut milk.  It took almost three hours to get the coconut oil extract.

After pouring the marinated kampung chicken, it took another three hours to cook the chicken rendang.  Sofiyah helped to turn over the rendang whilst I took a short nap.

Then after solat asar I began cooking the nasi himpit.  I did not make original ketupat because it was difficult to get the ketupat casings.  Frankly I do not know how to weave ketupat casings. 😦

Since there was still time before iftar I cooked kuah kacang.....my favourite dish to eat with the instant ketupat and chicken rendang. Yummy.....

Kak ngah and her husband Aminn arrived after eshaq on their way to Kota Tinggi.  So after they had their dinner I prepared ketupats and rendang for them to bring to Kota Tinggi.

After they left, kak long and her hubby with their son Muhammad arrived.  Muhammad was a bit moody after his long journey from home.  But he warmed up a while later and we all had fun playing with him.  Kak long and her family then left for Lizloteng.  They were staying there over the long weekend.

Oh yes.....today at Rumah Liza we installed a basic First Aid box. Alhamdullillah.
