Eid Mubarak 2014 (1435)

In Malaysia, we celebrated Eid Mubarak on Monday July 28 2014.  Thus, we fasted 29 days during the month of Ramadan, Alhamdullilah.

Two days before Eid, I began cooking chicken and beef rendang and also ketupat.  Hubby assisted me with the preparation and cooking too..... I also put on the apron which my son Badruzzaman gave me on my birthday.  Thus, we had all of the above dishes when we had our iftar.  I also gave some to my neighbour's children since their parents were away in Mecca performing their umrah.

We took the above picture after Eid prayers at Masjid Kajang.  Kak Long was absent because she celebrated Eid with her in-laws in Kedah.  First time since she got married, she was away from us during Eid. We missed her a lot.

Eid Mubarak - 6th Syawal 1434

(the medicine for my tummy ache and diarrhoea)

(Porridge for lunch and dinner)

When my family and I visited my uncle (Pak Long, my mum's edlest brother), on the third day Syawal (August 10) my aunty (Mak Teh, my mum's elder sister) was also at his house  My uncle lives in Desa Jaya, Kepong.  My aunty informed me that her eldest son, my cousin, was admitted to Hospital Tuanku Bainun in Ipoh Perak.  According to my aunty, Along Enoi (Zainal Ariffin Zainuddin) was diagnosed with Leukemia.  I was shocked when I heard the bad news.

When I first returned to Seremban (my hometown) from Singapore (where I was brought up for sixteen years), and Kuala Lumpur (the big city) was unfamiliar to me, Along Enoi and Along Man (Hj Azman bin Hj Adnan) were my cousins who took me shopping and sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur.  I was waiting for my GCE results, and Mak Teh invited me to stay with her for a few days at her house, also in Desa Jaya kepong.

Along Enoi and Along Man took me window shopping at Pertama Complex and then to Panggung Anniversary to watch a rock concert.  The concert was in the afternoon.  After the concert, we took the mini bus to return to Desa Jaya, Kepong.  In the bus, Along Enoi managed to snatch the diary which I was carrying (those days, it was a trend to carry a diary instead of a handbag) and he and Along Man saw a photo of my pen-pal (now my hubby).  Then, they teased me all the way home....

So, last Tuesday (August 13), my hubby and two of my children (Khairulzaman and Sofiyah) and I visited Along Enoi at the Tuanku Bainun Hospital in Ipoh. Along Enoi was at 7th floor, Ward 7A Bed 37.  His wife, Kak Izan was looking after him at the hospital.  I hope and pray Along Enoi will get better and healthier, Amiin.

We then had our solat at the mosque near the hospital.  Then, we checked in at Hotel Seri Malaysia for the night.  We called Wahiduzzaman to join us for dinner.  He met us at the hotel and we then had dinner at a restaurant in Ipoh.  Wahid was having his final exam, and his last paper was on Thursday.  After dinner, we returned to the hotel and Wahid too returned to his rented house in Gunung Rapat.

It was during the wee hours Wednesday that I suddenly woke up and vomitted twice during the night and also had diarrhoea.  Hubby then took me to KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital EO.  I was to be admitted, but hubby said we were returning to Kuala Lumpur that Wednesday morning. So, the doctor prescribed the above medicines, and if I was still unwell, to go straight to KPJ Kajang for admission.

So, when we reached home Wednesday afternoon, I slept the whole day and throughout the night, waking up only to do my solat.  I woke up Thursday morning, feeling much better, and did my household chores, cooked lunch, including the above porridge.  After lunch and solat zuhur, I did ironing.  Alhamdullilah, I am feeling much better now.

Ketupat Nasi

(the rice ketupat, all that was left on the first day of Hari Raya Haji)

For Hari Raya Haji, I made seventy pieces of ketupat, and also cooked five kampung chicken for making rendang.

Besides ketupat and rendang, I also made kuah kacang which is compulsory for every raya celebrations.

In fact, I only cook ketupat  twice a year i.e. during Eid Mubarak and Eidul Adha (Hari Raya Haji), because I do not know how to make the ketupat casing.....So, I had to buy the casing at the pasar tani or pasar kajang.  But of course can use the plastic casing for ketupat, but the taste is not the same....

I tried to learn making the ketupat casing since I was a kid from my father, but alas, I failed.  In my family only my father and my younger brother know how to make the casing.  My husband nor my children also could not make the ketupat casing.  Perhaps my son-in-law knows??? Hmmmm......

 (the men in my life.....)

 (my children with their brother-in-law)

 (me with my darling hubby...muuuuaahhhhh...)

 (with all my daughters...)

(my wonderful children...)

Eid Mubarak was celebrated Sunday 19 August here in Malaysia.  After our Eid Mubarak prayers at Kajang mosque, we took the above pictures using Sofiyah's lumix digital camera (she got that for her 13th birthday).  Wahid was the official photographer....

Anyway, poor kak long....she was unwell when the photos were taken.  She was still having morning sickness, in fact, she just vomited when we took the above photographs.   (InshaAllah, I will have a grandchild in March next year).

Kak Long and her husband did not follow us to my parents' house in Seremban, since she could not travel the distance.  So, she and her husband stayed home.

When we reached Seremban, my brother Zulfitri was trying to fix the florescent bulb, but since he was a bit on the heavy side, my son Khairulzaman volunteered. But then, he could not do it, so, my husband then tried. He too was unsuccessful.  Finally, my eldest son Badruzzaman did it.  Yeyyy!!

 (Khairulzaman tried.....)

 (then hubby tried....)

 (finally Badruzzaman.....)

At my parent's house, the step ladder was not long enough for my sons to reach the light bulb, so my dad used the baby cot and put the step ladder onto it.  The whole family participated.....three generations....hehehe....

Eid Mubarak 2011

(My family including Fifi our cat)

                                                             (My 6 wonderful children)

The above pictures were taken after returning from the mosque for Eid prayers.  Eid was celebrated on August 30.  If in other countries, Eid was celebrated, the most, 7 days, here in Malaysia.....one whole month of Syawal!!

So.... there's another one whole week to enjoy Eid....  My husband has completed his 6 days fasting during Syawal.  As for me, I have another 4 days to go.....but then, its not the 6 days Syawal fasting....its something else....

Anyway.... last week my aquarium looked like this... the water had turned murky and four fishes died.  The aquarium also stank!! Then when I called up the guy who installed the new pressure pump to rectify the problem, he gave feeble excuses and kept on delaying coming to my house. I was so cheesed up that I went to another aquarium specialist and seek his help.

Thanks to Mr Kwan, my aquarium now look like this.... The water became clearer and the fishes were swimming merrily right to the bottom of the aquarium.  Previously, it just swam near the surface.....

But Mr Kwan advice me not to buy any more new fishes.  He told me to wait for a few more days before adding new ones..... Well, my dark coloured goldfish will have to swim alone for now......

I enjoy watching the fishes in the aquarium especially before I go to bed.  Sometimes Fifi, my cat, would sit with me too....of course lah...perhaps he has ulterior motives......hehehe.....Anyhway, Fifi is now 12 years old, but if calculate according to cats' ages...multiply by 7 = 84 years old....wow.... but still, she's aging already...

When I took Fifi to the vet for coughing and lack of appetite, the doctor took x-ray of her lungs...and I was caught by surprise when the doctor told me Fifi had pneumonia.... So, she had to take antibiotics and vitamins and other medications prescribed and, Alhamdullilah she's getting well.  Now she sure eats a lot....getting fat even.....Well, the doctor said, let her eats whatever she wants......

Well, some one suggested that I have another cat since Fifi is getting old...Oh no......I definitely cannot do that.... I might hurt Fifi's feelings... I love her a lot.  Well, Fifi's next appointment is next week.  I hope she's completely cured.
