Pineapple Tart (Pastry only)

I came across this recipe in the Star2 newspaper.  I am only interested in making the pastry.  As for  fillings, I have my own recipe to make the pineapple fillings.

300g flour
4 tbsp cornflour
3 tbsp icing sugar
200g butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
2 egg yolks
A few drops of yellow food colouring
(Makes 40 to 50 pcs)

Sift flour, cornflour and icing sugar into a mixing bowl.  Add butter to the flour mixture, and rub with your fingertips till the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.  Add the yellow colouring to the egg yolks and mi well.  Add the egg yolks to the flour mixture bit by bit to form a dough that does not stick to the mixing bowl.  Shape into a ball and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Divide the dough into two.  take one batch and roll to a thickness of 0.5cm between two pieces of cling film.  Cut out circles on the rolled out pastry with your favourite tart cutter.  Make sure to grease the sides of the mould.  Arrange on the baking tray, and repeat with the second batch.

Roll the jam filling into thumbsized circles, and place them on the pastry rounds.  Bake them in an oven, preheated at 175 degrees C for 25 minutes  After 10 mins, rotate the baking rays so the tarts will be baked evenly.  Cool on a rack and store the tarts in airtight containers.

Goody bag from ex Monkshillian gathering

I came across this picture whilst going through my photo album.  The above were door gifts during the reunion dinner of my ex schoolmates.  I could not attend the reunion because I had a wedding to attend, but my friend, also ex Monkshillian from Seremban, attended the reunion which was held in Singapore.

She brought along the above gifts and contacted me to pick it up at her abode in Seremban.  Thank you very much Siti Hawa.

Kak Long's 30th Birthday

Kak Long's birthday was on 26th July, 17th day Ramadhan, but we had a belated birthday celebration on 27th July.  Of course lah, she celebrated her birthday with her loving husband and adorable baby son first at their house in Damansara.

We gave her a Tefal food processor and a Menang multipurpose saucepan.  She was so happy with the presents we gave her.  Luckily the Menang saucepan came with a recipe book.  Thus, she could then try out all the recipes.  Kak Long, we love you very much.

Finally discharged...

The nurse had to change my wrist band at the hospital because it came loose.  In its place was this cute cartoon printed ones....must have been leftover from the childrens'ward...hehehe....

Anyway, I was finally discharged Monday evening.  My son, Khairulzaman, and Sofiyah picked me up and took me home.  Just in time for iftar, but I was not fasting.  I have to replace four days fasting after Ramadhan, In shaa Allah.

When I reached home, my grandson was still at home.  I wanted to hold him, but hubby said better not, since I just returned from the hospital.  My final diagnosis was...food poisoning.  Had to consume more medicines for a few more days....

O Allah, to You I seek forgiveness and please cure me from my ailments.  Amiin.

Third day at the hospital

My grandson visited me last night. So happy. He now could lie on his tummy and held up his head.  So cute....

Third day today, and I am still nauseatic.... The nurse took my blood early this morning for more tests.  Alhamdullilah, during the earlier test, it was confirmed not dengue fever, though the symptoms were almost similar. If its denque again, I may not be able to recover.  Dengue is so painful.....I do not want to get it again.

Warded at KPJ Kajang

Last Friday, I took my mother to KPJ Seremban for her physiotherapy.  Then, while she was being bathed by the KPJ home nursing team, I cooked lunch for both my parents.  Dad could not fast because he had to complete his dosage of antibiotic due to his injured right toe.

Suddenly, I felt nauseatic and vomitted in the kitchen sink.  Quickly I finished my cooking and laid down on the bed.  I felt awful.  I felt dizzy, nauseatic and felt my body and joints aching all over.

After solat zohor, I called up my son, Khairulzaman, to pick me up at my parent's house and to drive me home.  While waiting for him, I slept.  He arrived an hour later and drove me home.

I slept during the journey home.  I felt so sick....body and joints aching, nauseatic and dizzy.  Khairul wanted to take me to the hospital, but I said I will go after solat eshaq.  I was still fasting and felt really bad because I could not cook anything for iftar.  So, my children have to buy outside food for their iftar.  Hubby was breaking fast with his office colleagues.

Then, after eshaq, Khairul and Sofiyah took me to KPJ Kajang.  I had to be hospitalised to undergo tests to find out what was wrong with me.  When hubby arrived at the hospital, I was still at EO.  Then hubby got me a suite so that I will be comfortable during my stay in hospital, Alhamdullilah.

Mee Siput from Johor

Yesterday afternoon, when I returned from Seremban, I found a package couriered from Johor.  It was from one of my FB friends, Seri Kandi Tanah Jauhar.  Seri Kandi Tanah Jauhar (aka Yusa) sent the Mee Siput, because, according to her, this is one of the best Mee Siput found in Johor.

When I first came across this Mee Siput, Ayeshah was the one who brought it from Johor, I did not know how to eat it.  I thought it was like the Maggi noodles.  Boil it and then add the chilli paste.  Boy, was I wrong..... Ayeshah told me just pour the chili over the crunchy crackers.

Then, when I posted a picture of the Mee Siput on FB for the attention of my Johorian friends, Seri Kandi Tanah Jauhar responded and taught me how to eat it too.  Then she said she will couriered the best Mee Siput from Johor.  Indeed it was very delicious...  Thank you Seri Kandi Tanah Jauhar (her blog Alam Sari).

My son-in-law's 34th birthday

My son-in-law's 34th birthday was on 10th July, so, when we broke fast together today, we bought a birthday cake and a present for him.
He cut the cake after we solat maghrib together.  Hubby was the imam during solat maghrib.  We did our solat in the living room, Alhamdullilah.

MAHAR PERKAHWINAN DENGAN MENGAJAR SUBJEK STATISTIK

MAHAR PERKAHWINAN DENGAN MENGAJAR SUBJEK STATISTIK. ANDA BERANI MENGANJAKKAN PARADIGMA MAHAR DI MALAYSIA?
Malam tadi (22 Jun 2013) saya menghadiri majlis akad nikah anak perempuan kepada salah seorang murid dewasa saya di Titiwangsa. Majlis akadnya berjalan dengan meriah, lalu saya teringat firman Allah berkaitan mahar perkahwinan dalam al-Quran:

Antaranya adalah kisah mahar perkahwinan nabi Musa AS:

Jumpsuits for Muhammad

This morning I went to Kajang Prima with Wahiduzzaman.  Oh ya! Wahid came home from Ipoh yesterday, so he broke fast with us first time this Ramadhan.

I wanted to buy second hand blackout curtains at a bundle shop in Kajang Prima.  My tenant at Maytower had requested for blackout curtains since their baby was restless with the daylight coming into the room.

When I went into the shop looking for the said curtains, I had to leave, disappointed, because they only have window curtains, not for sliding doors.  Well, I may have to buy new ones then, In shaa Allah.

It was when walking to my car, Wahid was the driver, I noticed a boutique selling clothes for babies and toddlers.  Wow... there were so many items to choose from...so, I bought five pieces of jumpsuits for my grandson.  Never mind it the sizes are for six months plus... Muhammad is growing up fast...Alhamdullilah.

First day fasting

We had the predawn meal at 5am.  Hubby, as usual, ate his favourite Kjeldsens Danish butter cookies. Our children ate toasted garlic bread which I made.  As for me, I had dried dates.

For the first time this year, I went marketing at Kajang market.  I bought fresh beef and mutton, kampung chicken, battery chicken, and vegetables.

Then, just before 1pm, I received a call from Fitness Concept informing me they are delivering the treadmill (BH RT AERO TREADMILL (MP3 Compatible) I ordered from Fitness Concept at Alamanda.

Thus, besides being the first day of Ramadhan, it is also my son-in-law's birthday and the arrival of my brand new treadmill, Alhamdullilah.

I will try out the treadmill after terawih prayers.  I did terawih prayers at home, whilst hubby and our children went to Uniten mosque for their Terawih, Alhamdullilah.

Marhaban Ramadhan

Alhamdullilah, tomorrow is the first day of Ramadhan. Tomorrow is also my son-in-law's 33rd birthday.

Hubby and our children, excluding kak long n Wahiduzzaman, went to Uniten mosque for terawih prayers.  As for me, I did my terawih at home.  Tonight I began reading the Holy Quran from Juzud 1 which i finished reading after solat eshaq n terawih, Alhamdullilah.

Then I phoned kak long, who lives in Damansara, and Wahiduzzaman who lives in Ipoh, to recite the verse for fasting the whole of Ramadhan. My other children recited the verse with me at home, Alhamdullilah.

I also need to set the alarm for 'sahur' (meal before dawn) tomorrow.  Usually I will wake up at 3.30am to do qiamullail. Then, by 4.30am, I will prepare the pre dawn meal, In shaa Allah.

View of the Holy Kaabah

A month after hubby and I left Mecca, the upper level for tawaf nearing completion, Alhamdullilah.

Sapi Island, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

(me with fellow traveller (Ann) from Sydney)

 (the rocking boat ride..)

 (the lovely beach)

 (crystal clear water)

 (snorkeling)

 (after lunch...)

 (the bbq tent)

(Ann with her children, Derrick and Jennifer)

I left Kuala Lumpur for Kota Kinabalu Thursday July 5.  My daughter, Ayeshah sent me to KLIA at 5.30am Thursday.  My flight was scheduled at 7.30am, but it was delayed for half an hour.  I finally landed at KK airport 11.15am, and took a cab to Le Meridian Hotel.

Friday morning, I took a boat ride to Sapi Island with fellow travellers from Sydney, Australia.  It was a 20 minute boat ride from Sutera Harbour to Sapi island.

I did snorkeling, but did not enjoy it much, so I went swimming  instead....  I was in and out of the crystal clear blue water for three hours....thoroughly enjoyed myself.  Then it was time for lunch...bbq fish, prawns, hot dog, fishball, crabs, fried rice, fried noodles, fried long beans, cabbage and tropical fruits as well as desserts (local kuihs).

During the return journey, it was raining heavily, and the boat ride was bumpy....frightening but thrilling.....adrenalin rush.... Reached the shore safely, Alhamdullilah.
