23 days after knee operation

Yesterday morning was my ninth physiotherapy sessions.  I now need to use a single crutch on my right hand when I walked. Thus, I need to train walking with only a crutch.

Anyway, today, besides the usual exercise routine, the ultrasound etc. I had to cycle using the stationery bicyle for the third time.  But this time, the speed tension was increased to no.2.

I hqd to cycle for 10 mins.  Boy, I could only managed to cycle 2.1km.  It was tough because of the tension.  I was sweating after completing the cycling.

When I asked the therapist whether I could cycle using an ordinary bicycle, she was against it.  Better not, she said, because ordinary cycling could injure my knee and prolong recovery.

My next physio session is on Monday. Thus, I need to do physio by myself, at home, over the weekend, In shaa Allah.

Mee Siam Singapore

After physiotherapy this morning at Colombia Asia Hospital, my son Khairulzaman and daughter Sofiyah fetched me at the hospital. We then drove to my friend's abode at Pandan Indah, KL.

There was heavy traffic otw there i.e. until the junction to MRR2.  What with the construction of the MRT which will be ready and operational, In shaa Allah 2016.

Anyway, when we arrived, Puan Hazizah Baba, whom I got to know via FB, was waiting for us.  She got the mee siam ready, nicely packed into the Tupperwares which I brought along.  She made two sets because the other set was for my pet sister Norehan Nor.

So far I have not come across restaurants or warungs offering mee siam in their menu. Thus I was lucky that I met Hazizah Baba.  She was also from Singapore, where we both grew up and had our education there.  In fact, we grew up eating mee siam, available at any eating shop on the island.  My favourite was at the sarabat stall in Newton Circus, whoch was near my secondary school. That was in the early 70s.

Hazizah also gave me permission to copy and paste her mee siam recipe on my FB Notes and also my blog.  So, the next time I crave for mee siam, I will cook it myself using her recipe.
Her mee siam was delicious..... I had it for lunch, and also dinner just now.  I had my dinner at 6.30pm daily, unless I was fasting of course.

So Zee (that's how I address her) you make very delicious mee siam, and also thank you so much for the recipe.  May Allah SWT bless you always. Amiinn.

Hubby's 56th Birthday

I was surprised to find pictures of hubby's birthday which I posted earlier was deleted.  Also pictures of my grandson which I posted the past year.  Anyway, I have changed my password.

Well, hubby celebrated his 56th Birthday last May 3.  He refused to cut his birthday cake, which we presented him on the eve of his birthday, until his grandson arrived on his birthday.  Thus, they cut the cake together.

In future, I will not be posting any more pictures of my grandson, it hurts when pictures of him growing up were deleted without my knowledge.

Part III

Physio - week four

Today is the seventh time physio at the hospital. For the physical exercises, a 1kg weight pad was strapped to my ankle.  Boy....it was quite tough to complete all the six routines....

Then, I had to cycle for 10 mins at a speed of 23.5kmh. I could only cycle 3.4km.

The physiotherapist suggested that I swim to keep fit, since running is definitely out for now...  As for driving, wait another two weeks....

Sixth physiotherapy after op

This morning had my sixth physiotherapy session. This time the therapist put double weights on my shank for all the exercises. Alhamdullilah, I could easily do it.

After physiotherapy, I went over to Dr Azfar Rizal's clinic, since I had a follow up appointment with him.  Today, Dr Azfar removed the stitches on my operated knee.  Well, another minute scar on my right leg.

In shaa Allah, by next month I could do away with both the crutches.

Fu Wa and Feng Yi

I got these facts from New Straits Times today on page 6.

Fu Wa's profile:                              Feng Yi's profile

Sex: Male                                       Female
DOB: Aug 23 2006                        Aug 23 2006
Mother: Long Xin                            Fei Fei
Father: Lu Lu                                  Wu Gang

SIMILARITIES

  • They were both born in Wolong National Nature Reserve, Sichuan, China, on Aug 23 2006
  • They were the panda representatives for the 2008 Beijing Olympics
  • They are seasoned travelers as they had lived in many places, such as Beijing Zoological Gardens and Wenling Panda Centre in Zhejiang province.
DIFFERENCES
  • Feng Yi has a rounder face than Fu Wa
  • Fu Wa's eye patches are elongated and in the shape of the number 8.  Feng Yi's eye patches are smaller with little tufts of white fur at the upper corners of her eye patches
  • Fu Wa has a rounder forehead than Feng Yi
  • Fu Wa's nose bridge is wider and a little crooked.  Feng Yi's nose is narrower and longer.

PANDA FACTBOX
  • The panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuco), also known as panda bear or giant panda, is a bear native to south central China
  • The giant panda is a member of the bear family, which scientists call the Ursidae.  Among the bears, it is most closely related to the spectacled bear of South America.
  • The giant panda, a black-and-white bear, has a body typical of bears.  It has black fur on the ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, and shoulders.  The rest of the animal's coat is white.
  • Giant pandas live in broadleaf an coniferous forests with a dense understory of bamboo, at elevations between 152.4 metres and 3048 metres.
  • About the size of an American black bear, giant pandas stand between 0.6 and 0.9 metres tall at the shoulder (on all four legs), and reach 1.2 to 1.8 metres long.   Males are larger than females, weighing up to 113.3 kg pounds in the wild.  Females rarely reach 99.7 kg.
  • Many people find these chunky, lumbering animals to be cute, but giant pandas can be as dangerous as any other bear.
  • Scientists are not sure how long giant pandas live in the wild, but they are certain it is shorter than lifespans in zoos.  Chinese scientists have reported zoo pandas as old as 35.
  • A wild giant panda's diet is almost exclusively (99 percent) bamboo.  The balance consists of other grasses and occasional small rodents or musk deer fawns.
  • Giant pandas reach breeding maturity between four an eight years of age.  They may be reproductive until about age 20.
  • The giant panda is listed as endangered in the World conservation Union's (IUCN's) Red List of Threatened Species. There are about 1,600 left in the world.

Physio at home

Today was my fifth visit to Colombia Asia Hospital for my physiotherapy sessions. Come tomorrow, it will be day forteen after my knee surgery.

I still need to use both crutches to move around. Hopefully, I will be able to use only one crutch by next week.

For the exercises, I need to do 30 counts, each count five seconds apart. There are six moves altogether. After the exercises, an ice pack on my knee for ten minutes.  Followed by an ultrasound therapy if at the hospital.

I use my prayer beads to do the counting. Each time I hold for five seconds I would recite "Laillahaillaullah" (There is no God but Allah). Since there are thirty three beads, just nice for me. Doing zikr whilst exercising, Alhamdullilah.

Deuter Putrjaya Trail Run 2014 (Pictures)

After the knee surgery, I could not run the Deuter Putrajaya Trail Run 2014 on Sunday May 11.  I was still in hospital.   Dr Azfar Rizal Ahmad assured me that I could run the Standard Chartered International Marathon come October, provided I have healed completely, In shaa Allah. I have already registered for the 10km Cruise run.  Yet, according to my physiotherapist, better to rest more to avoid further injury.  Well, I will have to listen to both my doctor and my physiotherapist.

I saw pictures of the run in the DPTR 2014 Facebook page.  Wow....what a run....it would have been very thrilling for me, in fact an adventure even.  If I ran and also finish the run....I could then said ''I HAVE FINISHED''.

Here are some of the pictures I upload, courtesy DPTR 2014 FB page.
